At times I miss Colorado desperately. I won’t lie. Ten years in any place will most likely create soul ties, I suppose. For me, because the mountains have always been a “thin place” where heaven and earth kiss, timberline will always be home. At least this side of time.
A few years ago my Dad, who is an avid photographer, and I got to spend a day in Rocky Mountain National Park with a pro guide. Here are some of his shots from the day. I’ll never forget it. Thanks, Dad, for giving me a reminder of the wild though it’s no longer at my doorstep. I needed it today.

Those are amazing photographs. I need to get myself out there. It looks great. (:
27.08.2009, 10:15 pmOh man. I can feel your longing, Kevin. I used to live in Colorado Springs, and I miss the mountains SO much. There’s a spot inside me that still aches for them.
27.08.2009, 10:18 pmOhhh, that’s beautiful! I know how you feel, though I’ve never been to Colorado. I grew up in New Zealand and live in Australia now, but I miss my home so much. It, too, is still wild and mountainous. I feel more alive there, and yes, closer to heaven..
I’ll stop rambling. I hope you can visit your home soon
27.08.2009, 10:47 pmThose are gorgeous pictures. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for talking about “thin places,” too.
I absolutely love that; I find it to be such a beautiful and evocative phrase. Makes me think of Celtic hills capped with fog……..
27.08.2009, 11:22 pmThat third picture is very interesting. That cloud on the right looks like it tipped down to kiss the mountain.
28.08.2009, 8:18 pmWow, those are amazing. My parents took us kids on a vacation there two summers ago, and that week stole my heart away. I hope God puts me there someday.
29.08.2009, 11:50 pmThose are gorgeous!!! (sigh) I’ve never been to Colorado, but it’s one of my top ten must see places before I die.
